Nila, the red "Pit Bull" terrier was our first grandchild, and Cane, the white dog was our second. The children are growed up and out of the home, but cannot take their pets with them due to their geographical location, so therefore, grandma and grandpa are raising these two. They're a part of the family! They anxiously await for the "go ahead" to open their Christmas gifts. They're favorite hobby besides playing ball is just "lounging around". They're two peas in a pod. They even get dressed up for Halloween to greet the Trick or Treaters at the door. Cane was "The Hulk's" dog last year. When my daugher brought Nila home I said no. Are you kidding me? This is a dangerous dog, have you seen what these dogs do? Her dad had said, yes. It took me about 3 months before I would have anything to do with her and finally I broke down. Then 6 months later, my son brings home Cane. He was ate up with "ringworms" and he was what I thought was the ugliest dog in the world. He soon won my heart as well. It saddens me that people have made these dogs into fighting dogs, and have taught them to be mean. These two are the best dogs we've ever owned and wouldn't trade them for the world. I only wish the world had the opportunity to have the friendship and love that we have for our pets. I can see the fear in people's eyes when they meet them for the first time, the panic, and with good cause if you read the newspapers and watch the news. But, not all dogs are taught to be bad. It's taught to them, it's not imbreded. The world is certainly missing out!
