July 9, 2008. Fire Breaks out on back side of the ridge located behind Tampico, Wa. They leave their family on a moments notice to head into the fire area without pay, fuel reimbursement, or dinner. They are the personnel of the Yakima County Search and Rescue. They stand for hours manning a road block trying to calm worried residents and preparing for the event of evacuating residents if the fire forces the decision. This time the fire fighters get the situation under controll (with help from the wind dying out) and every one goes home for a very late supper. I nominate them for the unsung hero's club.
