YAKIMA, Wash. -- A large new office building is going up along a busy Yakima street.

Construction will take less than a year for the building on North 16th Avenue near Fruitvale Boulevard.

The owner says the Department of Social Services might use some of the space.

He expects to fill the rest with other businesses.

One neighbor says he's happy with the development.

"It makes the property values go up also, so I'm definitely for all the progress," Don Corrbray said.

The owner tells KIMA he's owned the property for years. But, only decided to build recently because he thinks there's a demand for modern office space in Yakima.
