YAKIMA, Wash. -- Area volunteers spent their Thursday making needed improvements to a community boxing ring.

The Home Depot volunteers spruced up the Madison House boxing ring with fresh paint and some handy-work.

The Madison House is a free community center open to all teens, especially those affected by gangs.

"A lot of these youth that we reach, you know, they have a lot of anger or energy. And, boxing is one of the places they can go in there and let all that energy out," said Javier Alvarez, Madison House Program Director.

The volunteers also fixed the fence that surrounds the Madison House property.
