The Football Championship Subdivision presents the Jerry Rice Award to the top freshman in the country.

This year's best in the US, Yakima's Cooper Kupp.

Cooper, the Davis High Grad redshirt freshman superstar for Eastern Washington University with his 21st TD catch of the year in this weekend's national quarterfinal win over Jacksonville State on the red carpet at Cheney. Cooper Kupp, already earning first team All-America honors for an incredible season. 85 catches for nearly 16-hundred yards...plus his scoring grab total......all three are FCS records for a freshman. And, Kupp's streak of 14 games with a TD snag is an overall national record. Coop, as humble and talented a young man as I've ever met. Here's what he had to say about winning the prestigous Jerry Rice.. Award. quote...It's a great honor....named after the best receiver of all time. I want to thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me to be better every day. Cooper's proud parents Craig and Karen Kupp are in Philadelphia tonight on his behalf while Coop and the Eagles gear up for Eastern's national semi-final showdown against Towson.
