Dust Devils Win Big, Bears Lose Big
By Keith Leventhal
We're down to the final 3 weeks of the Northwest League season.
With just 20 games left to play, the Tri-City Dust Devils are 6 and a half games ahead of 2nd place Spokane and closing in on their 2nd ever playoff berth. Sunday night, the Dust Devils looked good as they beat Vancouver 8-3. Monday, those two teams were back on the field. And the Dust Devils offense was on fire once again. 5 Dust Devils had more than 1 hit and 6 players picked up RBIs as Tri-City crushed Vancouver 10-3. Jeremiah Sammy led the attack by going 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBIs and Wes Musick and Sheng-An Kuo combined to give up 3 runs on just 4 hits. These two teams will wrap up their 5-game series on Tuesday afternoon. The Yakima Bears were also in action on Monday as they went for their 3rd straight win in Eugene. But, it wasn't meant to be as Yakima got crushed 11-1. The Bears and Emeralds will wrap up their series Tuesday night. The other 2 East division teams opened up a 3-game series against each other in Boise. And the Hawks take care of business as they beat the Spokane 5-1. So, the Dust Devils pick up a game in the standings. They're now 7 and a half games in front of both Spokane and Boise, who are now tied for 2nd. |
