Dust Devils and Bears Both Hit the Road

The Tri-City Dust Devils have had an interesting week.

This is what they've done in their last 5 games...shutout loss, shutout loss, shutout win, shutout loss, shutout win.

I guess the glass half full take on that stretch is that Dust Devils pitchers have only given up a total of 6 runs in their last 5 games.

Friday night, the Tri-City pitching staff tried to keep up the good work as they opened up a series in Vancouver.

And, I'd say they did a good job.

Vancouver scored in the first...Tri-City tied things up in the 2nd.

Then no one scored for a long time.

Finally, in the top of the 13th, Ben Paulsen hit a single and then moved around the bases thanks to 3 wild pitches.

And that was the difference as Tri-City beat Vancouver 2-1 in 13 innings.

These two teams will be back on the field on Saturday night.

The Yakima Bears are also on the road.

They opened up a 5 games series in Eugene on Friday evening.

They get shutout for the 3rd time in the last 4 games as they fall to Eugene 7-0.

The Bears and Emeralds will also continue their series on Saturday night.

And let's take a quick look at the other two games in the Northwest League.

Spokane finally loses a game...they fall to Salem-Keizer 4-1.

And Boise wins their 2nd straight game, beating Everett 8-2.

So, the Dust Devils are now 7 games ahead of 2nd place Spokane, and 8 in front of Boise.
