Northwest League Baseball Recap
By Keith Leventhal
We start in the minor leagues.
The Tri-City Dust Devils and Yakima Bears have both gotten some great pitching in their first 3 games of the year. And that continued for one of them on Friday night. The Dust Devils were in Vancouver again...and once again, they get another stellar pitching performance. Jonnathan Aristil and 4 relievers combined to give up 3 runs as Tri-City beat Vancouver 4-3. These two teams will wrap up their series on Saturday. We move down to Oregon next. The Yakima Bears trailed Salem-Keizer 6-4 going into the 9th inning...they scored once to make it 6-5...but with the game-tying run on 3rd, 2 straight Bears struck out. And they end up losing to the Volcanoes 6-5. Ramon Castillo did hit his first home run of the year for Yakima, but it wasn't enough. The Bears and Volcanoes will also finish their series on Saturday night. |
