Another Mahre making a mark on the mountain!
The Valley forever proud of the Olympic medal winning Mahre brothers.
But, there are plenty more Mahre's making their mark on the slopes.
Flying down the mountain. Skier cross...an age old sport....but, only introduced for the first time at the Olympics in 2010. Four person racing. First to the bottom the winner. In the orange coat and black pants, Selah's Robert Mahre. The son of Dave Mahre Junior....Robert's uncles....Winter Games medal winners from the past, Phil and Steve. Skiing, a lifestyle with the Mahre's...Robert's been rocketing down the slopes since he was old enough to walk. Now, 24 and currently qualified at the ski cross World Cup level. That's racing with the Big Boys....Robert, ready to race to the top for the big bucks.
Robert Mahre "So far coming out of my pocket. You gotta be able to prove yourself before someone wants you to represent them. So, how big is next few months? Gonna be major. My first impression at World Cup level."
In just a few weeks Mahre will be skier crossing verses the top competition on the planet in Austria and France.....Already on the selection list for the end of January X games.
Robert Mahre "And, ultimatley everyone prays to go to the Olympics. I'm going to take it season by season. Last year I raced just around North America. This year I'll focus on Around the World.
The intense pressure of competition against the best on the planet. But, first in just a few days from now, Robert's off on a north of the border skiing trip.....for fun.
Robert Mahre "Going up there with Phil and Steve, my brother and two cousins. Doing a short story on our family's backround. It'll be a good little vacation before I go race hard for a month."
