CWU Ranked 14th In D2Football.com Poll

In just over a week, the Central Washington football team will play their first game of the season.

And as they get ready to hit the field, the team has picked up a couple of honors.

The preseason D2football.com top 25 poll has been released and the Wildcats start the year ranked number 14 in the country.

However, they will be tested early on this year, since 2 of their first 3 opponents are ranked in the top 12.

A couple of Central players were also recognized.

Senior wide receiver Johnny Spevak has been named as a pre-season all-american and senior cornerback Courtney Smith has been picked as a 2nd team all-american.

There's also a pre-season all-conference team and the Wildcats had 12 of their players make the first team.

Central opens the 2009 season on Saturday, August 29th, when they play at Mesa State.
