SEATTLE (AP) - New Washington baseball coach Lindsay Meggs has hired Dave Nakama to be his top assistant coach.

Meggs made the announcement on Monday. Nakama will join the Huskies staff after 10 seasons as an assistant at Stanford. Nakama will be responsible for hitting, team defense and coaching outfielders with the Huskies.

In between stints on the staff at Stanford, Nakama coached at Division II San Francisco State, where he crossed paths with Meggs on many occasions. One of Meggs' previous stops was at Division II Chico State.
