YAKIMA, Wash. -- Always a war when Yakima and the Tri-Cities face off. Even when the big battle involves the little ones.

The Yakima Hawks, the valley's only pee wee hockey team for 10-12 year olds, home against one of a handful of pee wee clubs from the Tri-Cities where there are many more kids skating for teams at more venues.

Of course more natural interest generated for hockey in the Columbia Basin with the professional Tri-City Americans to root for. No pay for play clubs in Yakima and only one ice rink. A continuing struggle to attract new youngsters to this great sport.

Frozen toe fun for dads and moms braving meat locker temps to cheer on their troops.

The awesome Tri-Cities and Yakima kids will meet again soon for another good sport puck war.
