West Valley's cool new soccer home

West Valley's cool new soccer home
West Valley soccer, always great. Now, scoring better than ever. With a big assist from the moms.

Christening their new home. The 14 - 0 Rams shutting out Ephrata this weekend to clinch the CWAC title. For the first time running on their new spectacular home turf.

Sandy Hanses said, "We are so excited to out here. A lot of us have been waiting for this moment for years. I know the seniors really appreciate it even though we only get half a season. It's really been great. So we can finish a strong season out here."

Almost didn't play at all this fall on this new field at the high school. The Smaller Cottonwod Elementary turf down the road has been the home for Rams soccer for years, been five years since bond approval for this new cool layout. Although school administrators contend the field was never scheduled to be used until this coming spring West Valley parents, after watching improvements completed at the football stadium. Felt the soccer kids were being slighted and let their feelings be heard. Loudly and passionately, and they were heard and out rolled this perfect grass. Now Rams soccer -- maybe actually ahead of schedule -- rolling at their real home.

Soccer moms have been waiting a long time. Awesome. Very excited. Better than expected. Proud moms.

And a proud head coach. Big shout out to John Schubert who for so many years has been giving so much of his own time building one of the top soccer programs in the state now able to show off that program at one off the top soccer facilities in the state.

Alyssa Wickenhagen said, "I think it's majestic. I love it. Perfect field. It has everything. We have view on each side. The turf is awesome. And, the goals are pretty cool too. Wow. Ha."
