The tennis pros are coming back to Yakima

They're coming back.

The pros about to put on their awesome tennis show in Yakima.......again.

The stadium court at Yakima Tennis Club jam packed last July for the finals of an extraordinary event. The championship match of the first ever Yakima Regional Tennis Challenger. Young, eager up and coming top women players, ranked as high as 40th in the world. Only KIMA with the local tv coverage. And, the fans came out. Now, that the word's out, the second time around at the Club will no doubt be bigger and better.

Stephen Welt "There's been a lot more inquireies from people around Yakima whether the tournament is actually happening this year. We're going to have live screening. So, anybody around the world will see every matches going on on either of the match courts."

Hats off to so many volunteers helping out to make this tournament possible. And, there wouldn't be a pro event here without local corporate sponsors. Big tip of the cap to tree top, parsec, white pass, frontier, sporthouse and of course Yakima Regional. Our local tournament huge for the 64 players....the Yakima Regional one of three 50-thousand dollar challenger level events used to earn a wild card entry into the main draw at the US Open in New York.

Stephen Welt "I get really excited. I was in New York a month and a half ago when they bring all the tournament directors together. There was 50 of us. It's just great to see what the US Open Circuit is trying to do to bring tennis to different parts of the country."

July 7th through the 14th at the Yakima Tennis Club. Gonna be awesome.
