The women's basketball program at YVCC was only one win away from the NWAACC championship game this past season.
Chelsie Morrison is one of the big reasons for their success is now taking her game to the next level.
The head coach at YVCC Cody Butler is glad for the time she was with the program, "We've been extremely fortunate to have Chelsie on the team, she's been a great team leader, she's obviously a great athlete, great student, she's done everything right and has made out program better for the two years she's been here."
Chelsie has spent the last two years at YVCC helping the women's team to back to back NWAACC East Region championships.
Which included 28 and 29 wins in those seasons.
This past year Morrison averaged 16 points, 8 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals a game.
Not a bad line for only averaging about 25 minutes a game.
"Sometimes she's a little to unselfish, she averaged 16 a game and she could have easily averaged 25 a game if she wanted to, she was very unselfish and it helped us win a lot of games."
57 to be exact in Morrison's tenure at Yakima Valley, including 22 straight at home.
Morrison says she enjoyed every day on the court, "Just the whole experience basketball wise, it was the best team I've ever been on, especially this year.
Chelsie signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Division two Seattle University next season over a few offers from Division 1 schools.
She made the choice for Seattle U mainly because of their academics.
Morrison wants to become a pharmacist and boasts a 3.7 GPA.
But don't think all those smarts puts out her competitive fire.
"It was a great experience I wish we would have gotten the ring, I'm still hungry and I still want to win."
Or that competitive fire will change who she really is.
"I don't think I am to unselfish, it's a team sport so you've got to get everyone involved."
