The Yakima Mavericks opened the regular season of the Evergreen Football League with a stunning 28-21 come from behind victory over the South Sound Shockers. The Mavericks were down 21 points but never gave up. Quarterback James Phillips threw two touchdown passes late in the game to shake up the Shockers.
