The Central Wildcat women super excited about their new top man.

Shawn Nelson is the new central washington university women's head basketball coach. Nelson has led a highly successful program at Carroll College in Helena, Montana for the past eight years. Winning more than 200 games.....his teams have won at least 27 games in each of the past five winters.......taking the nationally ranked Saints to the NAIA Division 1 National Tournament five seasons in a row. Shawn, 38 years old, the youngest coach in Frontier Conference history to reach both the 100 and 200 win plateaus. He was an assistant at Carroll before that where he played four seasons in the early 90's. Nelson takes over a Cats team in need of a new spark. Jeff Whitney, Cwu's boss for the past 14 years......out after his teams sat near the bottom of the league standings the last three years. Nelson, a proven strong recruiter could be just the medicine needed to remedy an ailing program at central.
