Inslee visits Yakima, lays out plan for jobs & education

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The democratic candidate for governor made a stop in Yakima today to discuss jobs and education.

Jay Inslee discussed his plans Thursday afternoon at YVC. He laid out a plan to create jobs by supporting Washington's workers.

Inslee talked about the importance of higher education and workforce training.

He used to represent our region in Congress. He said his experience teaching at Y-V-C, painting houses and driving bulldozers has given him respect for all work.

"I met just a few weeks ago with leaders in the wine industry," Inslee said. "We have an opportunity to grow the wine industry certainly with our high quality, value-added crops here. And I intend to be a very active governor here to do that."

Inslee served as the congressional representative for the Fourth District back in the early 90s.

Inslee is running for governor against Rob McKenna, who visited Yakima last week.
