WWII Dog Tags Returned
Bertrand Lortholary, consul general of France in New York City, holds a letter written in French by Anne-Marie Crespo, a resident of Istres, France, who found the dog tags that belong to World War II veteran Willie Wilkins, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in Newark, N.J. The dog tags were lost in 1944 and were found by Crespo who was digging in her garden in 2001. The tags were returned to Wilkins during an event which was held as a surprise for Wilkins, 90, and which also marked the 68th anniversary of V-E Day, the end of World War II in Europe.
