YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Fire season 2012 isn't over yet as a brush fire near Wenas Lake has grown to larger than 1600 acres.
The fire was first reported around 12:30 Friday afternoon.
Firefighters had it 50 percent contained Saturday.
The Department of Natural Resources said about a dozen homes were threatened at one point near the Stagecoach RV Park. People who live there were temporarily evacuated.
The evacuation order has since been lifted and no structures were lost as of Saturday morning.
Three choppers and an air tanker are fighting the flames from the air supporting 15 engines on the ground.
Authorities say the fire is burning mainly on the north side of Wenas Road, but it jumped the road at one point. Crews knocked that down quickly.
There's no word yet how it started.
