YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima police held a ceremony Tuesday afternoon to promote two officers.

Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi and City Manager Tony O'Rourke were at the ceremony.

Sergeant Gary Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and Officer Chance Belton was promoted to Sergeant.

"That's why today is so special because we have three excellent things taking place today," said Capt. Greg Copeland. "We have the well-deserved retirement of Lt. Steve Finch and these two fine young men over here getting promoted. So it's a real lighter day for all of us."

Police said it's important to let the community know who's working in their neighborhoods.
