Yakima pays to keep our streets clear of snow
YAKIMA, Wash. -- The total cost of the cleanup from last week's snowstorm came in at more than $100,000.

This is a preliminary estimate from Yakima's Streets and Traffic Department. The $112,000 total includes material, labor and three contractors hired to help. Neighbors are glad to see the snow is almost gone already.

"That first two days was really bad, I think the city did a good job on the main streets, on the inner blocks in the neighborhoods and stuff it was really, really bad. I seen people getting stuck just pulling out of their driveway, coming out of their house," said JD Mares.

The cost comes well within Yakima's snow removal budget for the year, which is about $400,000.
