YAKIMA, Wash. -- KIMA learned Yakima's Parks and Recreation Department will soon make it easier to register your kids in after-school programs and other activities. Registration is going online.

Beginning in January, you will be able to sign up for programs and rent park equipment over the internet.

The department spent Wednesday training on the new site.

People we talked to say convenience will help get more kids off the streets.

"There's so much crime and it's very easy to get in trouble, especially around Yakima," said David Kramer. "So, more things we have going on and the easier it is for kids to have access to, the less (of a chance) they have to go out and make those wrong choices."

There will be a $3 fee to use the online registration. But, you only have to pay it once.
