Yakima looking to discuss billboard plans
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Some billboards around Yakima could be taken down. Yakima City Council will weigh that option next week.

Right now, no new billboards are allowed in the city. City leaders will discuss extending the ban through January or even getting rid of some that are in place. There are more than 100 billboards within city limits. Some people said they're an eyesore.

"When they start putting big billboards like this up in the entrance of the gateway, it really, it takes away,” said Rick Phillips. “It looks cumbersome."

Research done by the city found that almost 70 percent of the billboards advertise for businesses that aren't local.
