YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima County judge denied a Mesa woman's request for information on Level 1 sex offenders in Yakima County. She wanted their addresses and places of employment.

Donna Zink is trying to create a public database of offenders in the state. The judge based his decision on a previous Supreme Court case that protected the confidentiality of Level 1 offenders. However, the judge ruled information can be released on offenders who weren't in compliance or were transient or homeless at the time of the initial request.

"Some information should be disseminated and some information should not be disseminated, and we all know that sometimes people take matters into their own hands, and, although it's not appropriate, that is a real concern," said attorney Gregory Scott.

Zink plans to appeal.

Benton County also denied the request. Franklin County gave her the information.
