YAKIMA, Wash. -- All the recent violence didn't stop Yakima from calling National Night Out a success.
More than 2,000 people came out throughout the night.
There were about 30 different Block Watch parties in Yakima.
Police say it's a good time to start your own group in your neighborhood.
"Get motivated before something happens in your neighborhood, start that block watch that is needed to prevent and deter crime," said Officer Jaime Gonzales, Block Watch Director.
Police say everything went off without a hitch.
You can contact the department for help starting your own block watch group.
