Yakima City Council votes to take control of airport

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima city council voted in favor to take full control of the Yakima airport.
For decades, the county and city have shared management of the airport. The county recently offered to relinquish its half to the city. Both sides agreed the airport would improve with a single owner.
City manager Tony O'Rourke will reveal his master plan for airport improvements in March.

Oh another bottomless pit for the city to dump tax money into. The county commissioners are probably having a party, or maybe not... they're still paying for the jail fiasco
Hopefully with this takeover of the airport the city manager has got a viable plan for revitalizing the airport so that once and for all it will be able to serve the area well. It is unfortunate that the airport has not been able to serve the citizens of the surrounding area in a way that is beneficial. This is a move in the right direction for sure.
