YAKIMA, Wash. -- The push is underway to have a new dog park built without costing Yakima or taxpayers a dime. The dog park is planned near Randall Park.

A national contest called "Bark for Your Park" offers to cover the cost for the winning park, up to $100,000. The dog park planned in Yakima would cost around $25,000.

Yakima Parks and Recreation is hoping to finish the dog park with or without a contest win.

Angelica Brower is a dog owner who supports plans for the new park.

"So, if he can be happy at a park where he can just let loose and go crazy and get all of his energy out and be a dog, then that'd be fantastic," said Angelica.

To vote, go to either the PetSafe website at petsafe.net/barkforyourpark or the PetSafe Facebook page at facebook.com/PetSafeBrand. Voters are allowed to submit one vote per day on both the website and the Facebook page.

The first round of voting ends June 13th.
