YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima City Council approved a program to treat mentally ill criminals. This would allow them to get treatment instead of getting booked to jail.

Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health is providing this behavioral health diversion program. Only mentally ill criminals who commit misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors qualify. Services start next month.
