SELAH, Wash. -- The Yakima Training Center held a Change of Command ceremony Thursday. Lieutenant Colonel Jason Evers will be the new commander.

He'll take over for Lieutenant Colonel Darrell O'Steen. Colonel Evers has been in the Army for nearly 20 years and most recently served with the District Corps of Engineers in Missouri.

Colonel Evers says he's ready for this opportunity.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to continue that history of excellence and to continue to provide that service to the U.S. Army," said Lt. Col. Jason Evers.

The change of command takes effect Sunday. A spokesperson says commanders usually serve for two years.
