YAKIMA, Wash. -- Some Yakima County inmates are striving to become better parents. They graduated from a parenting program Thursday.

The program is called "Strong Families." It teaches inmates to be better role models and gives them parenting skills. 22 inmates started the course. More than half graduated.

One inmate told us it made a difference.

"If you're not a perfect model or somewhat perfect model to your kids, you can't expect them to be good models in society, too," said Jill Taylor.

The program costs about $3,000 a class. Funding comes from Comprehensive Mental Health and donations.
