TOPPENISH, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol says a 19-year-old man was killed by a car on U.S. 97 near Toppenish late Saturday night.

Nathaniel Washington was struck on the roadway near milepost 59.

The driver, 29-year-old Spencer Brown, was not injured.

Troopers say Washington being in the roadway caused the accident. Investigators don't know whether drugs or alcohol were involved at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
