Weather spotter training to be held in Toppenish and Union Gap
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PENDLETON OFFICE NEWS RELEASE -- Volunteers are being sought to participate in the latest weather spotter training on April 29 in Topppenish and Union Gap. Weather spotters trained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) are key volunteers who assist the meteorologists by providing up-to-date information about storm activity.

The Skywarn Weather Spotter training is free. It Toppenish, the training will be held at the Yakama Nation Agency’s Eagle Seelatsee Auditorium, located at 401 Fort Road, beginning at 12:30 p.m. In Union Gap, the training will be at the Emergency Management Offices, located at 2403 South 18th Street Suite 200, beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be light refreshments and door prizes. The training is being co-sponsored by Yakama Tribal Nation Emergency Management and Yakima County Emergency Management.
