Water rescue called off on Yakima River

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Officials prepared for a potential water rescue Wednesday evening in the Yakima River near Thorp Landing.

Three people lost their boat while trying to guide it onto their trailer. The current of the water pulled the boat away. One person fell in the water, but did not need medical treatment.

Several agencies responded to the potential rescue including the Yakima Fire Department with their rescue boat, the Yakima County's Technical Rescue Team, and the Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team. They were not able retrieve the boat, but may try to get it tomorrow.
