UNION GAP, Wash. -- Union Gap's Mayor called the lawsuit filed against him and the city- unfounded. It was filed by the former city clerk Kathryn Thompson. She is suing both the city of Union Gap and Jim Lemon. She claims alleged bullying, intimidation and harassment. The city tells KIMA Thompson originally sought $2.6 million for sex discrimination, defamation, and wrongful termination. Now, the suit doesn't say how much she's seeking.
"She might want to be careful, too, because you know the potential of a countersuit is one thing that I may go forward with, with some of the implications she's making," said Union Gap Mayor Jim Lemon.
Mayor Lemon says not only are Thompson's accusations false, but that Thompson was never fired. He claims she chose to resign prior to her pre-termination hearing. Lemon adds, Union Gap has no plans to settle.
