UNION GAP, Wash. -- The Union Gap Police Department has selected Eric Turley as its 2013 Officer of the Year.

Turley is a ten-year veteran of the department. He has worked in the Patrol Division, as a field training officer, and as a coordinator for the Reserve Officer Program.

The department says it chose Turley as Officer of the Year for "his consistent effectiveness, proactive approach, (and) steady counsel to supervisors," as well as for stopping an armed robbery in November.
