Union Gap officials say neglected park will soon have green grass

UNION GAP, Wash. -- Union Gap tells KIMA the irrigation system is broken is Calahan Park and it hasn't been fixed because it was put at a low priority level with a lack of park employees.
One neighbor says he avoids the park because of it.
"Used to go over there play soccer, frisbee, baseball, football, whatever we could find in the yard," Sidney Barlett said.
(KIMA: "And now you don't go over there?")
"No, the grass is all dried out, the stuff sticks in your feet sometimes," Sidney said.
Union Gap says replacement parts will cost the city about $6,000. They hope to have the grass green within a few weeks.
