U.S. Marshals nab Yakima fugitive in Texas

U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE NEWS RELEASE -- Today, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offenders Task Force, fugitive Cruz Garza (Age 52) was arrested in Kyle, Texas by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. On November 21, 2011 an arrest warrant was issued for Child Molestation in the 1st Degree and Assault in the 3rd Degree by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office for Garza. The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office then requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force in the location and apprehension of Garza.
In the following days, the PNVOTF, developed information through countless interviews that Garza had possibly fled to Texas where family members where residing. As a result of the new information, the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force was able to locate and apprehend Garza in Kyle, Texas at a shopping district. Garza is currently awaiting extradition back to Yakima County, Wa.
The PNVOTF is a U.S. Marshals led task force that is comprised of Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, the District of Alaska, and the District of Oregon, along with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. The Task Force concentrates apprehension efforts on felony sex offenders, and other federal, state and local felony fugitives. The PNVOTF goal is to remove wanted felons from our communities in order to improve safety and reduce the amount of violence in the region.
