Thousands left without power in Selah after substation damage
SELAH, Wash. -- Pacific Power said about 6,000 customers lost power after a substation was damaged late Monday morning.

Crews were sent to the station at 10th Street and Cherry Avenue to figure out what caused the outage.

Pacific Power blamed it on birds flying inside and causing interruptions.

The company believes everyone should have power again by Monday evening.

Neighbors said a loud explosion could be heard throughout the city. Almost 450 customers have since had their power restored.
