Third body in 2 weeks found in Columbia River

MATTAWA, Wash. (AP) - Another body has been discovered in the Columbia River near Mattawa, making it the third one in two weeks.

The Grant County's sheriff's office says the body of a man was found on Thursday about 10 miles south of Mattawa. The body was found under Vernita Bridge.

Grant County spokesman Kyle Foreman says the witnesses told deputies the man had been seen earlier kayaking. Foreman says wearing a life vest.

The Columbia Basin Herald reports a cause of death has not been determined, but detectives found no immediate evidence of foul play.
