TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION NEWS RELEASE -- Enrollment centers where individuals can apply for TSA Pre✓™ and expedited screening benefits are now open in Yakima and Pasco.

TSA Pre✓™ is a risk-based, intelligence-driven approach to aviation security that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select screening lanes.  Nationwide, TSA Pre✓™ is available at 118 airports including Spokane International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“The ability to apply for TSA Pre✓™ in Yakima or Pasco is a convenient option for local residents,” said Jeff Holmgren, TSA Federal Security Director for Washington.  “During the application process, travelers will provide basic biographical information about themselves.  TSA uses that information to pre-screen applicants and, if approved, they become eligible for expedited screening at any airport where there is a TSA Pre✓™ lane.”

U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents can begin the application process online by visiting https://universalenroll.dhs.gov and selecting “Pre-Enroll Now” in the TSA Pre✓™ section of the webpage.  When prompted, applicants can select from a list of enrollment centers closest to their preferred location and continue with the online application process.

An in-person visit to an enrollment center is required so applicants can verify their citizenship or immigration status and provide fingerprints.  Walk-ins are accepted at the Yakima and Pasco locations.  There is a nonrefundable application processing fee of $85.

The Yakima enrollment center is located at 3601 W. Washington Avenue, Suite 1.  It is open Monday to Friday from 12 PM to 5 PM.  The Pasco office is located at 9915 Sandifur Parkway.  It is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM and from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Approved applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) via U.S. mail in two to three weeks.  The KTN, which is valid for five years, will also be available online after five to seven business days.

The list of required identity and proof of citizenship or immigration documents can be viewed at www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/required-documentation.  A list of eligibility requirements, which includes permanent and interim disqualifying criminal offenses and other actions that could lead to an applicant being deemed ineligible for TSA Pre✓™, is available at www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck/eligibility-requirements.

Prior to the launch of the TSA Pre✓™ application process, passengers were eligible for TSA Pre✓™ only through existing programs such as U.S. Custom and Border Protection’s Global Entry program and frequent flier programs with TSA Pre✓™ participating airlines. Airlines that participate in TSA Pre✓™ nationwide are Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual is ever guaranteed expedited screening.

TSA is currently in the process of increasing the number of TSA Pre✓™ enrollment centers to more than 300 locations nationwide.  For additional TSA Pre✓™ information and details on enrollment, please visit www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck.
