SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Sunnyside is closing in on a decision about animal control. The city will either continue contracting with the humane society or hire someone full-time and build a new facility.

Stray dogs are a problem in Sunnyside and Yakima. Sunnyside is facing a more expensive contract with the humane society. It would go from $1,800 a month to more than $2,200 a month.

It's not clear what a new facility would cost.

City leaders hope to make a decision in the coming weeks.
