YAKIMA, Wash. -- A giant training session in Yakima could go a long way at saving as many lives as possible. More than 200 firefighters flocked to the Yakima Convention Center for some of the highest quality training in the country. Participants were given tips on everything from leadership to actual life-saving techniques. They also learned about different ways to fight fires, all in an effort to save lives when precious seconds count.

"We are honing the skills for rescue, for emergency driving to make things in your department more cost effective and more efficient for delivery in emergency services everywhere," said Washington State Training and Safety Officers Association Board Member, Ted VanderHouwen.

The conference lasted five days and the last day of classes will be this Wednesday.
