CLEVELAND, Wash. -- Officials from the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office have ruled last week's gunfire a shooting-suicide.

Last Tuesday, Norman Luening, 79, shot Ronald Carlsen, 53, at his home on Lee Street, and then proceeded to shoot himself. He used a rifle to shoot Carlsen and a handgun on himself. Luening was found dead at the scene, and Carlsen was flown to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, where he remains in critical condition in the ICU.

Officials are still working to determine the motive for the shooting. With no eye witnesses, and the survivor unable to communicate, they do not expect to determine the motive soon.
