Police: Drunk driver crashes semi in Goldendale
GOLDENDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE -- The Goldendale Police Department responded last night (March 24th) at 7pm to a semi truck with trailer that hit a bridge on Mill Street in the city limits of Goldendale.

When Goldendale Police arrived, they contacted the 43 year old driver from Klamath Falls Oregon, Darren Porter. Porter was intoxicated. There was also a female adult passenger. There were only minor injuries reported.

The police investigation found that Porter was drinking beer and hard liquor and got into his semi and proceeded down North Mill Street. The semi approached the Mill Street Bridge and Porter lost control of the semi. He crossed the center line and hit the opposite side of the bridge. The semi continued on the railing of the bridge and struck a cement barricade at the end of the bridge. The semi continued and went off the bridge into a 12 foot ditch where it came to a stop. The City of Goldendale is assessing the damages to the bridge today.

The Goldendale Police arrested Porter on DUI and Driving Commercial Vehicle while having Alcohol. Police also wrote Porter for negligent driving.

Lt Bartkowski, “Porter and the female passenger are very fortunate no major injuries occurred in this accident.”
