SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. -- Two hikers missing in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass were found safe on Tuesday.

King County sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West said the hikers were picked up by a sheriff's office helicopter just after 7:00 a.m.

"They're in good condition. They were hungry, they're scratched up," she said. "One of the rescuers told me they were probably 7 miles or so away from the trailhead where they were parked."

The two, 18-year-old Ricardo Perez of Edmonds and 19-year-old Brian Chim of Mukilteo, failed to return Sunday from a day hike in the Mason Lake area and were reported missing by their parents.

Search and rescue crews combed the area on the ground and from the air on Monday.

The two were spotted shortly after the search resumed Tuesday morning.

"We just debriefing with them now to find out exactly what happened," West said.
