School dress code changes discussed in West Valley

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Administrators could lighten up the dress code at West Valley Junior High School. KIMA is hearing from parents who aren't on board.

Some school board members don't want as many restrictions in the dress code.

Students would be allowed to wear tank tops and shorts above the knee in warmer weather with the changes.

One mother says she wants the district to stick with the current rules.

"You will find that in most work places that you go to, the men and women that work there are modestly dressed and covered. And it helps the students prepare for the real world," said parent Alisa Randall.

A school board meeting was scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Monday to decide whether to make the changes.
