YAKIMA, Wash. -- Some long-awaited repairs to Zaepfel Stadium are getting new attention from the Yakima School Board.

The board met today to talk about how to fix the aging stadium and how to pay for it. Top priorities include repairing the track, infield and lighting.

Zaepfel didn't get improvements in the Eisenhower reconstruction project after the district ran out of money.

Eisenhower's cross country coach says parts of the track are down to the asphalt and that's dangerous.

"We're always worried about the possibility of injury," said Phil English. "And the same for the infield as well. It's an uneven surface and you know, it's not very safe.

The Yakima school board promised to have specific plans for the stadium by the new year.
