Rick Santorum to make campaign stop in Tri-Cities
TRI CITIES -- KEPR is learning more about plans to host another campaign visit from a Presidential candidate.

Action News has confirmed Rick Santorum is preparing to hold a rally in Pasco on Thursday.

Benton County GOP leaders say he will be at the Pasco Red Lion for an evening event. Santorum is expected to sometime after 5pm, to allow as many people as possible to attend.

The visit would make Santorum the third Presidential contender to visit the Tri Cities in just two weeks, after Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich.

Mitt Romney is the only top candidate who has not yet visited the Tri Cities, although his son was in town last week.

Local Republican leaders say these campaign stops simply mean Tri Cities voters get to truly understand each candidate before deciding who to support.

"When people hear these folks in person, it changes the way they may think," says Benton County GOP State Committeeman Tony Benegas. "And it has a huge impact. That's why Santorum did as well as he did in some of the states, because he took that time to go and visit those folks and energize his base."

And Benton County GOP Chairman Patrick McBurney says he's "gotten calls from people I haven't heard from in years, who want to go to this event, and are looking forward to this event. I can just tell, there's a palpable energy about it."

All of the Presidential candidates are working hard to gather as many votes as possible, in advance of Washington's caucus on Saturday.

Mitt Romney is already scheduled to have a fundraiser in Bellevue on Thursday.
