Prosser fire keeps firefighters busy
PROSSER, Wash. -- Highway 221 in Prosser was shut down for several hours Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews from Benton County, West Richland, Prosser, and Yakima were all called to battle the hillside blaze. Only a few structures were threatened including the Prosser police shooting range which was burnt up in the fire. No injuries were reported.

Neighbors knew it could have been worse.

"I'm not really scared. We got a pretty diligent fire department here, so we're here mostly just to show that we care," says Louis Sykes.

Highway 221 was reopened just after 3:30 while fire fighters battled the last of the fire. Crews say the fire covered about 80 acres. The cause is still under investigation.
